Pelling: A Heavenly Beautiful Town in Sikkim
A tiny but heavenly-beautiful town nestled in the interiors of Sikkim, Pelling is perhaps the second most popular destination in Sikkim, after Gangtok.
Pelling is famous for its panoramic mountain views, and lush greenery which wraps the town, giving it a gorgeous look. The best time to visit this town is during the summers when the temperature remains pleasant. The ones who are keen to indulge in outdoor activities should consider visiting between March and May. But, if you want to cherish the cold climes, then winter months would fulfil your wishes. I would recommend visiting in November or in February. Pelling is not a stand-alone destination and if you visit in December- January, you may not be able to visit some of the other exciting destinations nearby due to extreme weather conditions.
Built during the 17th century, this monastery serves as a popular Buddhist circuit. On your way to this monastery, you will come across wild forests and hilly terrains. Upon reaching here, set your eyes on the details of the monastery as the ambience engulfing it.
A culturally rich village, it has now become an attractive destination among tourists who prefer to spend time among absolute solace. You can familiarize with the way of living of various ethnic tribes inhabiting this village or even spend a night in the homestay. Don’t forget to visit the Limbo house built about 2 centuries ago.
One of the most attractive tourist’s spots in Pelling, this serves as an excellent picnic spot. If your family, friends or partner is accompanying you and all you have in mind is a gala time with nature, then inquire about this spot filled with beautiful fountains, gardens and tiny streams.
If you are wondering about activities to do in Pelling, then look no further and visit the Khecheopalri Lake. The magnificent lake is said to hold religious significance and according to sayings, wishes when made in the clear waters of the lake, actually comes true after an indefinite period.
Walk down the past by exploring the Rabdentse palace, which now has been converted into ruins. This palace used to serve as the capital to the Sikkimese kings till the 1814AD. Examine the ancient stones while exploring the chestnut groves located nearby.
